A new domestic training hub focused on hands-on education, skilled trades, and workforce development in Niagara.
Fort Erie, ON – Cappa College is proud to support the continued growth of skilled trades and manufacturing education across Niagara by helping local high schools access equipment for hands-on student training.
As part of Niagara Catholic District School Board’s investment in manufacturing, machining, welding, and skilled trades pathways, Cappa College provided equipment at a discounted rate to support training labs at Lakeshore Catholic High School in Port Colborne and Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School in St. Catharines.
The equipment will help students gain earlier exposure to manufacturing and skilled trades before they graduate from high school. By working with real equipment in a practical learning environment, students can better understand the types of careers available in local industry and make more informed decisions about their future.
The initiative also reflects a growing regional effort to strengthen the skilled workforce pipeline across Niagara. Local employers continue to identify skilled labour as a major need, particularly in manufacturing, machining, welding, tool and die, construction, and related industrial sectors.
For Cappa College, supporting secondary school training is an important part of building clearer pathways from high school to post-secondary education, apprenticeships, and employment.
Lakeshore Catholic High School recently unveiled a new manufacturing hub designed to serve students from Port Colborne, Welland, Fort Erie, and surrounding communities. Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School is also preparing for a new manufacturing lab to support students in the St. Catharines area.
Cappa College’s contribution supports that broader vision: giving more students early access to the tools, equipment, and training environments that reflect real career opportunities in Niagara.
Cappa College is also expanding its own skilled trades programming at its Fort Erie campus. The college sees partnerships with schools, employers, and community organizations as essential to helping students move from early exploration to practical training and long-term employment.
As Niagara continues to invest in skilled trades education, Cappa College remains committed to working with local schools and partners to help prepare the next generation of skilled workers.
